I have a collection of paintings by Fenerc (Francisco) Aszmann – do you know if any of his paintings are in any museums or private art collections in Brazil or anywhere else???? LG
I would very much like to quote from your blog posted on Dec 16 2012 in a book I am writing about JMW Turner for Viking. I would like to cite Barabas’s views on Turner’s work included in the blog and would seek your permission and also the appropriate manner in which I should reference the blog. Many thanks Franny Moyle
Thank you very much for contacting me – I am very glad to hear that you found the blog useful! You are of course free to quote from it as long as you mention me as the author (I am not sure what the appropriate form of citation would be, but I think author, title of the post, and URL would do fine). If you wish to quote from my translation of Barabás’s autobiography, that is also fine – just mention me as translator, the blog as source, and please also add the original Hungarian edition which I used: you can find it at the end of the post.
I am looking forward to seeing how you use this source in your book. I was really hoping that Turner scholars would find this interesting.
